43 neuromuscular junction labeled diagram

the neuromuscular junction, the neurotransmitter acetylcholine binds to the acetylcholine receptor, which allows Na+ to enter the muscle cell, altering its membrane potential. In this way, a chemical signal (acetylcholine) is converted back into an electrical signal (change in membrane potential). Saltatory Conduction. Saltatory conduction describes the way an electrical impulse skips from node to node down the full length of an axon, speeding the arrival of the impulse at the nerve terminal in comparison with the slower continuous progression of depolarization spreading down an unmyelinated axon.

It's spot on... and I'm just realizing this as an attending neurologist.

He has fantastic experience working with a variety of elite athletes across a variety of sports clubs including, Team China in the Olympics, specifically working with the national rowing, swimming, diving, table tennis, gymnastics and water polo teams. The epineurium is the outermost layer of dense irregular connective tissue surrounding a peripheral nerve. It usually surrounds multiple nerve fascicles as well as blood vessels which supply the nerve. This is probably a long shot but is anyone able to help with these two questions? 1. Neostigmine is a drug that acts by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase. Which of the following would be a likely side effect of this drug? 1. Delayed contraction 2. Decreased acetylcholine in synapses 3. Prolonged contraction 4. Hyperpolarization of muscle membrane 2. Consider a drug that inhibits the acetylcholine receptor in the neuromuscular junction. Which of the following would be a likely side effect of th...

Neuromuscular junction labeled diagram. Rubrospinal tract is labeled in red on the left of the diagram. Schematic representation of the chief ganglionic categories (Rubrospinal tract not labeled, but red nucleus visible near center) Details All structures and musculature are modeled and labeled including nerves, deep and superficial muscles, blood supply, skeletal structures and unique features for each individual body parts. Each topic is linked via references with test quizzes and this provides the best way to learn and understand human anatomy and the body. E.g. in Myasthenia Gravis or Botulism... Can anyone explain why this is the case? And what is the difference between EMG and nerve conduction studies? Are they testing different things? Can someone please help explain these two questions? I am confused because part of the lesson is saying that acetylcholine opens ion channels, and sodium ions diffuse into the muscle cell. So I think it depolarizes because sodium is a positive ion but it is being carried to the muscle cell. This lesson does not explain the effect on the muscles. If it is inhibited does that then mean that it is hyperpolarized because the sodium doesn't depolarize it? If it is inhibited then does that also mean...
