Hello, I just received to diametrically opposing opinions on my water heater/furnace venting situation and was hoping for some more old home opinions. We have a utility chimney, besides the part above the roof, it's all internal. 35-40 feet total from basement to top. It's unlined and uncapped, and there is definite spalling at the base where I believe quite a lot of water came in over a heavy rain a few years ago. Our home inspector said we'd need to add a liner and cap to best ensure gas l... 4. The minimum pipe size for connecting a Super Stor water heater is 1 inch. 5. Sequence of Operation for a Dual Element Electric Water Heater The basic operation of a two thermostat system (upper and lower) on an electric water heater of 240 volt supply is as follows: Only one element will come on at any one time. This is known as a flip/flop system. On a 240 volt water heater, there will always be 120 volts to both elements.

I want to put heater cartridges and brass piping in there to allow for rapid cooling of the interior of the mould once it's filled. My first thought was to fill the cavity with high temperature silicone as being flexible and easy to use would be a boon for the operation given thermal expansion and contraction, but silicone is an insulator, rather than a conductor...
Dual water heater piping diagram. A quick measurement tells me they're about 3.5 inches and 11.5 tpi, but I haven't been able to find a fitting that will screw on without effort. I am happy to hire a plumber to come look at my options and do the work. All the local plumbers charge a service fee. Manufactured home in Michigan with a ~2ft crawlspace. My water pipe from my well comes into the house up from the ground through a little ~2ft x 2ft cubby in the crawlspace. It's insulated on all four sides, and the pipe is insulated as well. Despite this, whenever it gets below maybe 10f outside, the pipe will freeze. It's flexible plastic, so it doesnt break, but I have to go put a blow dryer or other heater in the cubby in the morning to thaw it out. I've tried electric heat tape, and that d...

By in series, I mean cold water flows into the first water heater, then the hot water flows into the second water heater, then distributed.
Parallel-Equally manifolding the inlet water pipe and outlet water pipe in multiple heater installations. Having equal number of fittings; as well as, lengths of pipe. Series- Piping the outlet of one heater into the inlet of the next. Why shouldn't I pipe in series? Piping in series can cause the first heater to fail sooner than the second.
"That the two water heaters could be plumbed in series to improve efficiency. (one tank set low, like 25c, the other set to 56c). He said that they would have been plumbed in series by the builder, and he's wasn't not sure why these ones are in parallel. Now it my understanding that dual water heaters are supposed to be plumbed in parallel.
Hello, so i should get a 40 gallon tank soon with a 1" heat exchanger, with rated power of 31kw. It will be powered by a gas boiler with a max output of 27.5kw for hot water. Which diameter pipes would be ideal to hook it up to the exchanger and which diameter for the cold and hot water pipes would be best, considering that the house is big. Guess its better to go with a bit larger pipes if the house is big?
(Apologies for any typos this was written on my cell phone) My partner and I rent in Portland Oregon and we have a two-year Lease sign for our house. So around late December my partner and I started to notice that a large amount of condensation was building up on our windows in our house. We contacted our rental company and they said it was probably due to just normal condensation from heating our house during the winter. Then a week later I went into our crawl space/foundation to go change ou...

Does this look like a disaster waiting to happen? [https://imgur.com/a/KRQwmlg](https://imgur.com/a/KRQwmlg) My home inspector did not raise any issue with a slight dip in the pipes between the gas heater and gas water heater offtake pipes as they go into what seems like the chimney. A plumber says it is a big problem and can leak carbon monoxide; I got a carbon monoxide detector as he told me and put it a few feet away, but it never goes off. What do you think?

We explain the piping for a basic water heater installation compared with options for connecting hot water heaters in parallel, in series, or ganged.
Hot water coming out of the two heaters is combined and sent on to the fixtures. If you want to turn off one of the water heaters, you also have to close the valve to the inlet or the outlet. Otherwise you will just be mixing the cold water in one water heater with the hot water from the other heater. Leaving one heater closed off for a long ...
But remember, a fossil-fuel water heater requires adequate flue-pipe sizing to effectively vent the carbon monoxide produced. If both the new and existing water heaters must share a flue, the flue size must be increased at the junction by at least one pipe diameter. (Refer to manufacturer's venting requirements and local codes for full compliance.)
