Hi you all sysadmins! What tool would you recommend for network diagram creation? Please also elaborate your answer as in what makes it suitable for you. I am trying to find tools and I am curious about what others do Thanks! Hi All, I'm looking for software that can design the layout of equipment and place it into racks at the correct position. Currently I'm using visio to do this and it requires me manually dragging the images to the correct place. Also, is there anything that can be used to design network diagrams? Currently manually drawing them out on visio can be a real pain.
Is there a software that you'd recommend for drawing rack configuration and network diagrams? It seems that the best product I can find in this space is NetZoom (http://www.netzoom.com/nz14/features/index.aspx), which has an updated database of devices. Unfortunately, it's Windows-only and comes with a pretty costly 12 month subscription-based license fee. I'm also impressed with the simplicity of Glfify (http://www.gliffy.com/), but unfortunately they only support network diagrams, no rack con...

I've been in IT for a little over a year, my career trajectory has been the following: Helpdesk Analyst > Network Technician Both of these jobs have been as a government contractor, with different subcontracting companies. I've noticed a series of commonalities between these jobs: \- Red tape: So many tasks that can be handled within a day usually end up taking weeks, sometimes even months, just because it has to go through a formal approval process. \- Outdated systems/applications: I... I've been racking my brain and Googling stuff for the last 2 weeks roughly trying to figure this out, and I just can't get it. I'm trying to set up my home network with a pfsense firewall with a few different VLANs. Jul 09, 2021 · Creating a detailed rack diagram with Edraw is an effective way to design and document a computer network, like the following illustration. EdrawMax is an easiest all-in-one diagramming tool, you can create rack diagrams and any other type diagrams with ease! *(TLDR at the bottom)* I posted my previous thesis about half a year ago, and it was very well received by many people and is still being used as a reference today. But there is a problem, it doesn’t reflect my current views on where I think Rocket Pool will be in the future. I originally thought that it would be more appropriate if I gave my extremely conservative views on it (I lowered expectations and numbers) for a few reasons. It was a project that hadn’t launched yet when other staking s... Rack Diagrams visualize the rack mounting of computer hardware and network equipment as the drawing of frontal view of the rack with equipment installed. They are used for choosing the equipment or racks to buy, and help to organize equipment on the racks virtually, without the real installation. Hi guys, I got offered a new job as an Automation Lead for a Global company, who wants to implement the same Plant Factory all over the world, in paper they are just trying to do the old "copy-paste". So the idea is to create an standard for the automation and electrical part, yes, this role includes the electrical part which I am not in deep familiar with, although initially I will help them with the electrical but later an electrical engineer will take over. The thing is they are asking me f... I have never had to do this before outside of lab environments and I am relatively green at networking (I do have my CCNA). The whole IT team is new at my site and I seem to be the one with the most networking knowledge and am tasked with these things. I now have to document our physical environment in a server room that has had three previous engineers who did not document anything. Two firewalls (HA) and 8 switches with wires everywhere and nothing really labeled. How the hell d... It will probably not be my call, there are more experience people around, but I would like to know what are the ways before the real discussion starts. I'm not sure if I'm in the correct place but it seems sysadim-y. I'm working towards a real sysadmin role and as part of my apprenticeship and have been working on a personal network topology. I've got it all laid out but am reading conflicting information about what needs to be on it. I've included machine os, purpose and IP address if static. The connection type is also shown (5ghz or cat6 for example). I was also wondering whether you'd expect to see any port forwarding rule, mac filters...
